The Sixth Annual International Hair Research Convention: Travel Subsidies for Junior Members
*The Society has decided to award two of its junior members with travel subsidies amounting to \100,000 each.
The Sixth Annual International Hair Research Convention is scheduled to be held this year in Cairns, Australia. As on the occasion of the previous convention held in Vancouver, Canada, the Society has decided to provide a travel subsidy to qualifying undergraduates, graduate students, and junior (clinical) researchers. If you wish to apply, please send the following documents by e-mail to the Society’s administrative office:
1) CV or resume
2) Presentation abstract
3) A brief letter of recommendation from a senior, supervising member of the faculty
4) A brief description of your research activities to date along with an
explanation of your need for financial assistance.
The deadline for application is at the end of February. Your application will be reviewed by committee. If you are accepted, you will be notified before the end of March. In the event that you qualify and accept the award, we ask that you register for membership in the SHSR for a minimum of one year.

Japan Night at The Sixth Annual International Hair Research Convention
To provide an opportunity for our members to get to know each other better,
we have scheduled Japan Night at the following time and venue:
Date: June 17, 2010
Venue: Jardines Restaurant
Time: 18:00-21:00 (Japan Night will begin after the general meeting)
Attendees are asked to gather in the lobby of the Cairns Convention Centre
at 17:00. The Jardine Restaurant, located on the second floor of the conference
center in the Cairns Colonial Resort, is famous for having hosted former
Prime Minister John Howard. Accessible in 8 to 10 minutes by automobile
from any point in the city of Cairns, the building, which houses the restaurant,
is remarkable for its stateliness and magnificence. Its interior provides
a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for visitors. For more information,

On Membership Dues
It has come to our attention recently that the number of delinquencies in the payment of membership dues is on the rise. If you have not yet paid your dues, kindly do so using the payment coupon issued by the Society. As the 2010 membership year began in October, 2009, members who have not paid the 2009 membership dues are asked to pay for both years. Non-payment of dues for three consecutive years may result in revocation of membership. If you have changed your address, please inform the administrative office by FAX or e-mail as soon as possible. Please include the following information:

3. Place of employment
4. Telephone number
5. FAX Please write, “SHSR Membership Roster” on your FAX or in the subject
bar of your e-mail.
